We were able to fundraise $1,400 for the Wood River Trails Coalition at the Sheeptown Drag Races.
Outerbike Sun Valley 2019 started out with a bang, or a fire if you will. The Sheeptown Drag Races were held at Powerhouse in Hailey, Idaho Thursday night before the official opening of Outerbike in Sun Valley, Idaho the following day. Club Ride partnered with Powerhouse and Fidlock creating custom Klean Kanteen cups to raise funds for our local trail association The Wood River Trails Coalition. You'll remember the WRTC is Sun Valley's local trail coalition maintaining 400+ miles of trail in the Wood River Valley for Mountain Bike, Hike, Horse, and Motorcycle use. Our collaboration was a huge success as we were able to raise close to $1,400 towards the Wood River Trails Coalition!
After the keg ran dry it was on to the bike drag races! Police and firefighters shut down a section of main street for the evening. Once the sun goes down the racing commences. The local fire department assists in soaking the logs with diesel and lighting the logs while racers hold for the countdown. Bikes of all kinds and racers of all ages come out to pull flaming logs down one block of main street and claim drag race bragging rights. The action runs until the NCAA style brackets are paired down to the last two riders. It is then best out of three to be crowned the champion. There is a men’s and women’s division to get everyone involved. The Sheeptown Drag Races are a really fun way to get community involvement, push competitors, and support a great cause!
OuterBike Sun Valley at Bald Mountain
Outerbike itself was a major hit. With over 300 attendees the lines weren’t long to get a bike and the lift lines were even shorter. The event was held at Sun Valley's world-famous Bald Mountain in the heart of Ketchum, Idaho. With quick access to lifts people could spin a lap on the mountain in 25 minutes and get back to grab another steed to try out. There were also shuttle rides provided all weekend to various local trailheads to keep riders who wanted to wander exploring Wood River's vast single-track.
Bring Your Friend - Club Ride Group Ride
Club Ride hosted a group ride on Saturday morning to show off some of our local favorites, highlighting Forbidden Fruit, our famous flow trail. There were smiles, wheelies, scrapes, flat tires and cold beverages in the parking lot at Adams Gulch. It was a great ride and we got to connect with new friends and see old pals. We're looking forward to hosting another ride next year and getting time with riders who haven't met our team.
#ItsMoreThanaRide
With the success of the first-year event here we hope that this tradition will continue. Western Spirit, the parent company of Outerbike does a great job with the layout, vendors, food, beer and general vibe. If you are looking to buy a bike in the future look at Outerbike as a great way to try bikes and get your stoke up to the next level!!
