The Mountain Surf is a stretch woven short, so it's durable first and foremost. We designed the fabric light enough that it breathes like Neil Peart after a set of Red Barchetta. Bottom line the short works amazing for what it's intended for, which is riding bikes on amazing single track in the high country of Colorado to the flow of Brown County, Indiana. Is that not enough? Heck no. Club Ride makes clothing For the Ride and Everything After, so jump in the Deschutes River after your ride Phils, hang by the city pool with the kids, mow your lawn once this summer all in the Mountain Surf.

The short is all about maximum function. We accomplish this with great fit and some of the best lightweight stretch fabric on the planet, design inside zip pockets, add internal adjustments and gusset.

  • Recycled Technical Yarn – Designed for enhanced airflow, providing superior breathability
  • Midweight – 160 grams fabric is perfect for warm-weather rides or high-output efforts
  • Quick-Dry Recycled Fabric – Wicks away moisture to keep you dry even on the hottest days
  • Reflective Accents – Boost your visibility for evening rides
  • Zippered Side Pockets – Venting or secure storage for small essentials on the go

best-shorts-ever for best-day-ever's (12" mtn surf)

Love these shorts! As advertised I was able to wear them while my best bud and I went for a ride, then hit the swimming hole. They were dry enough by the time I got back that I could wear them to a dentist appointment, just on principal (left the dog at home for that one :-)). And finally I wore them for a little golden hour day drinking on the pub patio with my sweetie (yes, brought the dog). These are the only shorts you need for the best things in life :-) ... I've got some other "amphibious" shorts that come close but lack the zippered pockets and gusseted crotch that make these so great for mountain biking.
Four stars because I always feel like i have to be gentle with CR stuff, and these shorts are no exception ... the material doesn't feel "rugged" per se, and I've had problems with the zippers on other pieces so I always feel like I have to baby them a little. I'd like to see a little more bombproof materials. But design and style are second to none, and these are still my favorite shorts, and I still bought a second pair.

Perfect for riding, Perfect for everyday!

These shorts are perfect for riding. They breathe well & don't get stuck on my seat during tech drops like other shorts do. Also I don't have to change into something else after my ride. Win, Win, Win.

Not the same materials as before

I've owned several of these shorts over the years. They were my go-to shorts for mtb rides, work outs, and casual wear. Recently, they changed manufacturers from India to China and the shorts feel cheaper. The material is thinner and no longer have a durable and premium feel to them. They now feel like any other board short.

Great Pair of Shorts!

The Mountain Surf short PowerWeave fabric has a great feel, incredible mobility and seem to be very durable. I wore them while riding my gravel bike in Leadville Co, and loved the stretch of the fabric. They didn't bunch up, dried quickly after a dip in the creek to cool off. The only improvement would be a vertical side pocket with zipper to carry a phone. Recommend this short. Will wear these when riding at Curt Gowdy State Park and rafting on the Arkansas.

Nice shorts

Nice shorts, super comfy w the right amount of stretch. Lightweight, quick to dry, and overall good fit. Wore them on a ride, and around town as well so far. One critique - a slightly larger side pocket for a phone would be nice. The zippered pockets are too small. An earlier version of similar shorts has a roomier cargo pocket on one side, kept my phone safe & out of the way on my bike ride.

Loose is fast

These shorts are the perfect blend of a light short with a smooth material that glides easily off the saddle. Depending on how many beers I drink, I’m a 31 or 32 inch waist at 6 feet tall and the medium is a great fit.

Great Shorts Lots of Pockets

For me it is about the pockets! I wear shorts nine months out of the year. Club Ride shorts live up to the motto ‘& everything after’. I have thrown out some really expensive and good looking shorts, because they do not have a back pocket. If I cannot put my wallet in my back pocket the shorts are useless after the ride. Club ride shorts are perfect for the ride - zipped pockets, stretchy, and durable. The shorts are perfect for when I am not riding stylish, functional, and comfortable. Thank you for putting it all in one short.

I want to like them but they feel really tight

I want to like them but they feel really tight right where my overly think thought meats meet my knees. They feel comfortable but I couldn't never attempt doing the splits in them. Waist is tight but maybe I got fat. I've owed previous club shorts just not this version.

All day every day (at least in the summer)

Well, there is snow on the ground right now, but I am going to _live_ in these shorts come summer time! My idea of a perfect day is to load the dog in the old jeep, put a bike on the back, go ride some trails, go jump in a river to rinse off, then maybe get some nomnoms and bevvies with my sweetie. The Mtn Surfs can do it all in style. I have some "hybrid" surf shorts that are similar but the gusseted crotch and zippered pockets on these make them a little more functional for bike day vs beach day.
One piece of feedback for club ride is to show the same model in both the 12" and 10" inseams so people can gauge the difference a little better (I know .. 2 " ...funny guy!). I found the 12" comically long. 10" were more than long enough for practical MTBing. Liked em so much I got them in black and in indigo.
